Wm. Barron Galleries, Inc. has been a family-owned and operated business since 1943, starting with B. G. Coats (1900-1986).  Mr. Coats was one of the Founding Fathers of the National Auctioneers Association (NAA) and was their first President in 1949.  He was also the driving force behind the New Jersey State Society of Auctioneers (NJSSA) in the early 1950's.

Wm. E. Barron, a graduate of the Reisch Auction College, Mason City, Iowa in 1968, met B. G. Coats at a meeting of the NJSSA and a business relationship developed.  In 1981, Mr. Barron moved to Monmouth County, NJ and acquired the business of B.G. Coats.   Mr. Barron is an accredited Auctioneer and Appraiser, has over 25 years experience in Estate Tax Settlements, Probate, Fine Art & Antiques Insurance, Divorce, Personal Knowledge, and Full-Service Liquidations.  He is also a member of the National Auctioneers Association, New Jersey State Society Of Auctioneers; N.W.C.C.A.; and is a Licensed New Jersey Real Estate Broker. 

The business then became known as Coats & Barron, Inc.  In 1987, the company moved from their offices in Rumson, NJ to an Auction Gallery in Asbury Park, NJ. This Gallery operated until 2003, when Wm. Barron Galleries, Inc. then moved their offices to their present location at 602 Main Street, Belmar, NJ (Monmouth County).  Father and son, William E. and William D. Barron, now conduct business from their Belmar, NJ office.  William D. Barron is a 1993 graduate of the Mendenhall Auction College, High Point, NC and is now CEO of the business.
